Conservation Efforts

While the mothers of the animal kingdom don’t get their own Mother’s Day, we believe they’re just as special. That’s why we lead and support different conservation and breeding programs that help animal mothers thrive—and prevent species from going extinct.

IRMA

It wouldn’t be an Audubon Mother’s Day without New Orleans’ Queen of Soul, Grammy® Award-Winner Irma Thomas. Though we can’t be together to enjoy her music at Audubon Zoo, here’s a little taste of our decades-long tradition to get you in the Mother’s Day spirit.

family fun with Mother Nature

Gather the family and watch Audubon’s fascinating look at how animals parent.

Take a nature walk in your neighborhood or local park (practicing responsible social distancing, of course), and use the iNaturalist Seek app to identify the plants and animals you see by uploading pics you snap on your phone.

Set up a bird feeder in your yard and join the Project FeederWatch community to record the birds you see to help scientists track bird populations and migrations.

Want more ideas? Check out Audubon’s Virtual Party for the Planet presented by Entergy page for a whole list of apps and activities to help people of all ages get out in nature and become citizen scientists!

Whether you want to keep the little ones occupied while mom enjoys some alone time or spend some quality time as a family, Audubon has you covered with fun educational activities to bring you all closer to Mother Nature.

ANIMAL MOMS

While we celebrate our human moms, it’s a great time to remember all the animal moms that make Audubon a family, especially this spring when it seems like we’re welcoming a new baby every week!
